THE NEW S55: ITALIAN EXCELLENCE IN LUXURY, PERFORMANCE, AND RELIABILITY
Following its launch in Fano, the heart of Italian shipbuilding renowned for quality and innovation, the new Sport 55 (S55) embarked on a carefully planned transfer route to test its efficiency, seaworthiness, and operational reliability under real-world conditions.
Illuminated stern of the Filippetti S55 yacht docked at night, ready for departure on the 1200-mile performance testing route.

The yacht sailed along the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas, covering over 1,200 nautical miles in just three days without any technical issues. These extended open-sea passages allowed the crew to monitor trim, fuel consumption, and stability at cruising speeds between 40 and 47 knots, confirming the hull’s linear and predictable behavior, even in rough seas, thanks to advanced hydrodynamic design and structural strength.

The yacht’s arrival at the Cannes and Genoa international boat shows highlighted its long-range cruising capabilities and complete propulsion reliability during extended navigation. Propulsion is provided by two MAN V8 engines of 1,200 HP each, paired with Arneson Surface Drive transmissions, delivering unmatched performance and efficiency. Twin Disc electronic management systems optimize fuel consumption and performance, while the Xenta Joystick System ensures fast, intuitive, and precise maneuvering in port, making the S55 highly versatile.

Below deck, the S55 features three cabins and a bright central lounge, combining customizable finishes with ergonomic design. Every space reflects tailored craftsmanship, with carefully selected materials and bespoke solutions, standing out from industrial-standard interiors. A key design element is the Besenzoni retractable glass door between the cockpit and dinette, providing visual continuity and, when opened, creating a single, expansive open-air space, maximizing social interaction and natural light.

The yacht’s construction quality results from the fusion of advanced technologies and meticulous craftsmanship. The hull is built using vacuum infusion, combining lightweight strength and durability, while the most stressed sections are reinforced with carbon fiber. Direct supervision by the shipyard’s technicians at every construction stage guarantees exceptionally high standards, and the controlled scale of the facility ensures attention to detail rarely achievable in industrial production, reflecting Filippetti’s commitment to quality, customization, and proven performance.
